Call To The Firing Line

The United Nations seeks to trump the U.S. Constitution.  The 2nd Amendment is being threatened.  I've read a lot of comments about the following issue over the last few months:

"As I write this, the United Nations has begun negotiating what many of its member states and supporters hope will be a comprehensive international treaty to regulate the trade in—and in many cases the private ownership of—small arms. Gun control advocates from this country have joined literally hundreds of like-minded Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to work with international anti-gun delegates to develop a treaty that could destroy private gun ownership in this country in spite of our Second Amendment."  (American Rifleman, Sept: 2011, President's Column, By David A. Keene, President)

I gather that the central thrust relates to some obscure legal principle to the effect that the terms of a treaty ratified by the U.S Congress and signed by the President takes precedence over provisions of the U.S. Constitution.  I don't know how that can be, but that is a question for another topic.

For now, the important consideration is that America haters antithetical to the 2nd Amendment of the U.S Constitution have seized upon the notion that ratification of the proposed U.N. treaty will allow them to disarm American citizens.  They see the U.N. treaty as a way to circumvent the 2nd Amendment and achieve by fiat what they have not been able to achieve by conventional methods; the confiscation of American firearms.

We have to tell these enemies of America that what they are proposing will not work.  We have to tell them that any attempt by the U.N. or our own government to confiscate legally owned firearms in America will be met with armed resistance.  We have to tell them that they cannot and will not be allowed to enslave us by executive order or judicial decree.  And make no mistake, the right to keep and bear arms is the cardinal distinction between free men and slaves.  That's precisely why the 2nd Amendment was added to our Constitution.

For now, contact your congressional representatives.  Tell them that you vehemently oppose any U.N. treaty that effects the rights of Americans to keep and bear arms.  Do what you can to support the opponents of the U.N. treaty.  Join the NRA.  But in the final analysis, be prepared to step up to the firing line.

It is often said that history repeats itself.  In 1775, the British marched on Concord with the intent to confiscate the firearms of the American colonists.  They were met and defeated by the colonists at the North (Concord) Bridge.  As Americans we all share the heritage of those brave and determined Minutemen.  Be prepared to honor that heritage with your personal commitment to stand your ground and defend our Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.  Hopefully, the call will never come.  But if it does, be ready.
