Open Letter To Glenn Beck

I have received your email asking me to sign a nonviolence pledge, purportedly the same pledge that Martin Luther King, Jr. asked his followers to sign. From what you said, the pledge is being urged in response to the left's assertions that members of the Tea Party movement are dangerous radical extremists prone to violence.

I refuse! That is absolutely the wrong message for patriotic Americans to be giving the communists and socialists who are attacking our country from within. We can't tell the radical left that if push comes to shove we will just roll over and play dead. We can't tell them they can get away with anything they want without a fight. Any reasonable person would see that as encouraging them to act even more quickly and brazenly. I think you have lost your mind.

The communists and socialists who have taken over our government want to scrap our Constitution. They are presently proceeding to actualize their plans to destroy America by ignoring constitutional limitations on congressional and executive powers. They have to be stopped or else our children and grandchildren will be living in a totalitarian socialist (communist) state. I for one do not intend to simply allow that to happen. Yes, I will do everything I can to stop them through the legislative process. Yes, I will do everything I can to stop them through the courts. But, if all else fails, I will not pledge to peaceably allow our constitutional republic to be overthrown and be replaced by a Marxist totalitarian regime.

We have to remember the countless thousands of Americans who have died in the cause of liberty and freedom. It started at Concord, and continues today in Afghanistan and Iraq. All of our liberty and freedom was won by violence and the blood of our fighting men and women. America was born in revolution, and has always been a country of fierce warriors. I am proud of that heritage.

Do not let these communists get away with their attempt to claim the moral high ground by asserting that we conservative constitutionalists are prone to violence. Yes, we will fight if need be. But look at history, and look at them. All of the mass murdering monsters of the last two centuries have been totalitarians, socialists, and communists. Every single one of them. It's not violence that is evil, it is how that violence is directed. And today, right now, we have a President who is recommending creation of a Civilian "Security" Force equal to our military, who allows armed, uniformed thugs to intimidate voters without prosecuting them, and has no qualms about employing the might of armed law enforcement to force patently unconstitutional penalties and conditions on private citizens and businesses. That is violence, and that is evil.

So, "No Mr. Beck, I will not sign your pledge." And, I urge every patriotic American to decline as well.

With all due respect.
